Zoila was born on June 7, 1932, to Julio Martinez and Ramona Silva Martinez in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she attended school and grew up with thirteen brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers...donations may be made in Zoila's name to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or by calling 800-272-3900. Zoila married Joe Galan on August 16, 1952. They had two children, Sandra and Adrian, after Joe served in the Air Force during the Korean War. They lived in Corpus Christi until 1965 when the family then moved to St. Bernard, LA., where Joe worked as a Crew boat Capt. and Zoila a Homemaker. Zoila enjoyed taking care of her home and family, as she was involved in every aspect of her children's lives and their activities. She also loved watching telenovelas and Mariachi music. Zoila was a very caring grandmother to her grandchildren while their parents worked. You would always find her making clothes and some sort of craft for them to take home. Zoila worked at Lynn Oaks School during the years that her grandchildren attended. After Hurricane Katrina Zoila and Joe moved back to Corpus Christi and eventually moved to Arlington to be close to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Her greatest anticipation was to become a great grandmother. Zoila enjoyed activities and outings with her women's group at The Waterford where she resided for several years. We will miss her dearly and will keep her in our hearts and cherish memories of her forever. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julio and Ramona Martinez, brothers and sisters, Bernardo, Rosendo, Juan, Julian, Guadalupe, Roberto, Viola, Rosenda Martinez, Consuelo Vela, and Angelita Enriquez, Husband, Jose Pilar Galan, Son, Joseph Adrian Galan and Grandson, Christopher Michael Morales. Zoila leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Sandra Galan (Charles) Morales of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer (Greg Browne-Nichols) Morales, Alyssa Morales, Adrienne Morales, Ashton Morales; great-grandchildren, Alessandra, Gloriana, Kaireece Browne-Nichols; brother and sisters, Macedonio Martinez, Sylvia Sanchez, Diana Hastings of Corpus Christi, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Ashton Morales, Greg Browne-Nichols, Rene Rodriquez, Helen Murage, Grace Muriithi and Honory Pallbearer, Chuck Morales. A gratitude of thanks to the caregivers at Jovial Living Home for all their love and care given to Zoila, also to the staff of AlevCare Hospice for their support during Zoila's final journey in life. What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us. -Helen Keller Wade Family Funeral Home (817) 274-9233
