William Wayne Mckinney

April 18, 1946 — July 21, 2012

William Wayne McKinney III of Arlington, formerly of Belton, passed away at his home July 21, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born April 18, 1946, in Dallas to William Wayne McKinney, Jr., and Erma Lee Caldwell McKinney. He is survived by his mother; his wife of 45 years, Rosa McKinney; daughter, Lee Anne McKinney, and husband, Mark Mees; son, Matt McKinney, and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Will Mees, Katie Mees, Lauren McKinney, and Lacey McKinney; brother, Charles McKinney, and wife, Donna; along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William W. McKinney, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Caldwell; and his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Tate. Bill graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University, where he was a member of the Red Raider basketball team and Saddle Tramps. Bill enjoyed a career in insurance where he and his wife owned Killeen Insurance Agency for over 25 years. After selling their family business, he was the Risk Manager for Killeen ISD. Subsequently, he was the Risk Manager for Arlington ISD, until his retirement earlier this year. Bill was a member and Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He also enjoyed hunting, wildlife conservation, and all things Red Raider. A visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas. A private interment will follow at a later date in Central Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UT Southwestern Medical Center, P.O.
