William Thomas Bryant, a beloved son, father, educator, businessman, community member and lifelong Christian, passed away on February 19, 2024, at the age of 96 in Arlington, Texas. Born on December 31, 1927, in Wolfe City, Texas to Clyde and Laura Bryant, William’s life was one dedicated to education and service.
Equipped with a Master’s Degree in Education, William’s passion for learning led him through Southeastern Oklahoma State University, East Texas State University, and Stephen F. Austin State University, where he specialized in Horticulture and Forestry. His career in education spanned over 25 years, beginning as a teacher, and later progressing to the role of principal. William made significant contributions as the former Bradfield School Principal at Highland Park Independent School District and Gladewater Independent School District.
Beyond the field of education, William’s diverse interests shone through his work as a Steam Train Engineer at Six Flags Over Texas, an Appraisal Board Member at the Tarrant County Appraisal District, and a former Regional Desk Chief at the U.S. Department of Education. He was also a skilled woodworker and the proud owner of Austin Hardwoods, showcasing his business skills and dedication to his craft.
William’s love for the community was evident in his active roles, including being a Master Mason for over sixty-five years and earning the esteemed title of Texas Master Gardener. His legacy lives on through his dedication to service and his commitment to fostering growth and learning in others.
William is survived by his devoted sons, Channing Bryant and Bradley Bryant, who will cherish his memory and continue his legacy of passion and service. He is also survived by grandson Aiden Bryant, granddaughter Jessilyn Tran and cousin Needham Bryant.
