William Ralph Low

February 21, 1939 — March 6, 2021

William Ralph Low Jr., 82, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 in Arlington. Funeral Mass: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at St. Mary the Virgin Catholic Church, 1408 N. Davis Drive, Arlington. Memorials: Donations for William's service may be made by contacting Candis or Savannah at 817-226-8777. Bill was the son of loving parents Ralph and Ima Low. He was born on February 21, 1939 in Dallas and lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, Maryland, Indiana, Florida, and Puerto Rico, before settling in Arlington, Texas. Bill was a devoted husband and father who cared deeply for his children and their families. He made friends, quite literally, with everyone he met. He knew on a personal level his doctors, pharmacists, grocery store clerks, auto mechanics, and customer/technical assistance representatives. As a sincere advocate, he did everything he could to try and improve the lives of those he met. He was an expert problem-solver and energetically volunteered his time and talent for the service of others. Bill raced motocross, he was a competitive pistol shooter, political columnist, and he enjoyed time in his garden. In his later years, he pursued a deeper understanding of the spiritual life. After a long discernment, Bill converted to Catholicism and received his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 30, 2021. Bill's professional career is filled with honors and accomplishments. His early life was dedicated to politics having served as the Director of the Republican State Committee in two states and as the Political Director for the Republican National Committee. Moving away from professional politics, Bill then directed his efforts to pioneering work in alternative dispute resolution. As a professional mediator for over 40 years, he served on the Supreme Court of Texas Advisory Committee on Mediation, and for many years as chair for several sub-committees. In 1996, Bill was granted the Frank G. Evans Award from the State Bar of Texas for his “Outstanding Contributions to Mediation.” The Low family has in loving memory those who tragically preceded Bill in death: his sons Bill and Carter. Bill will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 41 years – Candis, his surviving children Denny, Jordan, and Savannah, and his brother Bob. Bill leaves a fruitful legacy with 19 grandchildren: Nikki, Casey, Taylor, Will, Holly, Caitlin, Kevin, Shelby, Pierce, Collin, Tessa, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Joachim, Silas, Luca, Fulton, Remi, and 2 great-great grandchildren Finley and Allison.
