William Michael Manire went to be with our Lord on March 20 at his home in Arlington, TX. He is survived by his wife, Pat Manire, daughter Amanda Heze, and husband Edward, Michaela Lester and husband Jeff, stepson Christopher Patterson and wife Melanie, stepdaughter Sara Khan and husband Syd and 14 grandchildren, his sister Pat Ware and nephews Clint Owens and wife Jennifer, Mark Ware and wife Isabelle and 7 great nieces and nephews, his aunt Anne Pope in Lubbock, and cousins Tom Pope in Cambria, CA and Trisha Nielson in Lubbock.
Michael began his career in public service as a firefighter and paramedic with the Arlington Fire Department in 1969 and then moved to Midwest City, OK where he served as a firefighter for many years. During this time, Michael used his beautiful tenor voice to honor God by singing professionally as a member of the Noblemen Gospel Quartet, performing throughout the U.S. until he returned to his hometown of Arlington in 1993. There he served the public again as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring with 20 years of service in 2014, and continued his musical career by joining the newly formed True North Quartet at Mayfield Road Baptist Church until the group retired. Always a dedicated Christian, Michael served as a church deacon and as a member of the MRBC Choir and Frontline Singers until the end.
