William Lee Moses

December 26, 1930 — December 12, 2023

It is with profound sadness, yet great joy, that we announce the passing of William Lee “Bill” Moses on December 12, 2023 in Arlington, Texas. He died peacefully while surrounded by his family, just two weeks shy of his 93rd birthday.

Bill was born in Los Fresnos, Texas on December 26, 1930 to Wesley and Sybil Moses. The oldest of six children, he graduated from Los Fresnos High School in 1948. He went to Abilene Christian College but was drafted into the United States Army and served proudly in the Korean War. As an Army veteran, he then attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas and graduated in 1956.

While attending Texas A&I, Bill met Patricia Anne Smith who was working as the librarian at Kingsville Junior High School. Pat was the love of Bill’s life and they were married on June 15, 1957. They remained married for more than 66 years; their love and commitment to each other were an inspiration to all who knew them.

Bill worked for Amoco Standard Oil in Houston, Texas and then Tulsa, Oklahoma for 15 years. In July 1969, he moved his family to Arlington, Texas and began working for LTV as a Systems Analyst. Known for his genuine care and dedication, he made a lasting impact on countless numbers of colleagues before retiring in 1999.

Since the day they moved to Arlington, Bill and Pat were active members at the North Davis Church of Christ (formerly known as Randol Mill Church of Christ). He had a deep love for North Davis. He served in many areas of ministry but especially grew to love the Benevolence ministry where he could be the hands and feet of Jesus to people in need. He later served faithfully as an elder for many years. He was a walking definition of what a “servant leader” is supposed to look like.

Bill and Pat enjoyed traveling. They played Bridge with the same group of friends for more than 40 years and it was said that he could be a ruthless card player. They also enjoyed their monthly 42 Club. On Saturdays in the fall, Bill could always be found watching the Texas Longhorns.

It’s hard to quantify the tremendous impact Bill had on his family. He loved his family deeply and provided for them well…there was nothing they ever needed that he did not find a way to provide. To grow up in a home with Bill Moses as your dad meant that you always knew you were loved. Most importantly, he was a devoted Christian and, because of his example, his children are also Christ-followers. Their lives, and the lives of his children’s children, bear his legacy. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Sybil Moses; his brother Tom Moses; and his sisters Ruby Milum, Margaret Kretz, and Betty Jones.

He is survived by his wife Pat; daughter Lee Anne Robbins (husband Gary); sons Kevin Moses (wife Sandra) and David Moses (wife Juli); grandchildren Hilary Whatley (husband Houston), Hannah Klein (husband James), Hayden Moses (fiancée Phage Nolte), Amy Leonard (husband Sam), Wesley Robbins (wife Samantha), Emily Moses, Abby Firdauzi (husband Fendri), and Zach Moses; great-grandchildren Addison Whatley, Judson Whatley, Cameron Klein, Indah Firdauzi, Rizky Firdauzi, Angunn Firdauzi, Khairi Firdauzi, Rimba Firdauzi and Embun Firdauzi; sister Norma Mann and many nephews and nieces that Bill loved dearly.

Bill will be buried at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. There will be a private family committal service on Wednesday, December 20 where he will also receive Military Honors. On Saturday, January 6, 2024, there will be a reception/visitation for friends and family at the North Davis Church of Christ from 1:00pm -3:00pm.

Bill volunteered often in the Arlington Hearts & Hands Ministry and, in lieu of flowers or gifts, the Moses family asks that you consider a donation to the ministry in Bill’s honor. You can donate now by clicking here.
