ARLINGTON - William “Bill” Cunningham Burns, 86, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Arlington.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, 910 S. Collins St., Arlington with Dr. Andy Mangum officiating. Interment: 2:00 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane A.

Bill was born on June 9, 1930 to Norflet Eugene Burns and Lena Odessa Bullard Burns in a farmhouse on Cowhouse Creek in Hamilton County, Texas. Reared in Hamilton County, he attended Union School, Hamilton Central Ward, Brownwood Junior High and High School, graduating in 1948. Bill served in the U.S. Army. He attended Howard Payne University on a track scholarship and graduated in 1952 with a B.A. degree in Accounting. Bill married Norma Sue Gill in 1954; they were married for 63 years. He worked as an accountant/auditor and retired from AAFES in 1993.
Survivors: Wife, Norma Sue Gill Burns; son, Michael Burns and grandson, Shawn Burns; son, Brent Burns and wife, Debbie and grandson, Adams Burns; niece, Gay Howard; and extended family and friends.
