Wanda Lee Kitchens Donald, 94, passed away on May 18, 2019, in Arlington Texas, with her family by her side. She was born on March 22,1925, to the late James Edgar and the late Myrtle Genoa Drake Kitchens in Stamps, Arkansas. Wanda graduated from Stamps High School, attended Magnolia A&M, Mississippi College for Women in Columbus, Mississippi. She married the love of her life, the late Robert Farrel Donald on November 14,1948 in DeRidder, LA.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Myrtle Kitchens, her husband Robert Donald, her son-in-law Don Pulte and brother James “Gerald” Kitchens. Wanda is survived by her three daughters, Marsha Propes and husband Mike Propes of Streetman, Texas, Belinda Pulte of Temple, Texas, and Robyn Barrere of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren, Kelly and Steve Josti, Katy and Colin Sproule, Kara Propes, Robert Pulte, Amanda Pulte, Collin Dougherty, Jessica Barrere, and Matthew Barrere; and six great-grandchildren, Maddie, Sophie, Elliana, Anthony, Abigail and Zoey.
Wanda worked in accounting for various businesses over her career, and retired from CRC Wedge Wireline/Crutcher resources in 1989. Over the years Wanda was an active member of First Baptist Church Lake Charles, First Baptist Church Beaumont , First Baptist Church Lafayette, and Fielder Church in Arlington. She studied the bible in Greek and Hebrew and attended every bible study she could. She began teaching Sunday School in Lake Charles, led adult Sunday school classes, was active in LLL and the Sunshine choir. Wanda overcame her fear of the water in her early 70's and took water aerobics, where she made many new friends. She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, feeding and watching birds and gardening. Wanda was an avid reader, and passed her love of books to her children. She also loved to knit and crochet, her afghans and baby blankets will always be cherished. Sadly none of girls, except for her great granddaughter Maddie picked up that talent.
Her place in Heaven is secured and she will be met by many that have gone ahead of her. She lived a long and wonderful life in God's eyes. Her presence blessed so many, by her grace, faith in Jesus, and love for others. She shared her witness and testimony easily, prayed for her family and friends daily. The twinkle in her eye, her easy smile and sense of humor will be felt forever by those she touched during her lifetime.
