ARLINGTON -- Virginia M. Guenzel, 87, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, in Arlington.
Funeral: Private family services. Interment: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7 in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach, Miss.
Virginia was born April 24, 1927, in Gulfport, Miss., where she grew up and later met and married Alvin A. Guenzel. While her husband was in the Air Force they lived in Arizona and Colorado. They moved to Texas in 1953 where they raised their four children. Upon Alvin's retirement they moved to Mississippi for 25 years before returning to Arlington to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.
Virginia was an excellent seamstress and an even better grandmother. She loved to dance, crochet and write poetry. A devoted friend and mother, she was active in the PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and hospital auxiliary.
She is with Jesus now and we will see her again.
Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Alvin A. Guenzel; and her youngest son, Larry.
Survivors: Son, James and wife, Cheri; daughters, Barbara and Bertha; sister, Ann Bell; grandchildren, Virginia, Rebecca and husband, Brian, Timothy, Clifton and wife, Michele, Zachary and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Isabelle, Sophie and Eleanor.
