Arlington -- Dr. Vincent Paul Apilado, 79, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at his home in El Paso, Texas.
Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 South Davis Drive, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Vince was born in Portland, Oregon, on June 7, 1936 to George and Cecelia Apilado.
Dr. Apilado had a love of music, especially the violin. He was offered a full scholarship to The Juilliard School but instead chose to pursue his passion in business and finance. Dr. Apilado received his PhD from the University of Michigan in 1970. He was a well-respected professor at Arizona State University and Chairman of Finance and Real Estate at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was inducted into The Academy of Distinguished Teachers at UT Arlington, which is comprised of tenured faculty that have been selected for their outstanding teaching, personal commitment to students and the learning process, and the ability to inspire and motivate students in 2006. Vince retired from full time teaching in May of 2010. He was a published author in many business journals and worked with numerous attorneys as an expert witness.
Vince loved his family more than life itself. He was an avid racquetball player and enjoyed coaching his children in various sports. Vince was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner at Saint Vincent de Paul in Arlington. We will carry his memory forever in our hearts.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elsa Apilado; his 2 sons, Dr. Paul Apilado (Jeannette) and Steven Apilado; his 3 daughters, Dawn Policht (Jeff), Rae Hebert, and Maya Burgess (Tony). Vince was a loving grandfather to Jeremy Policht, Morgan Hebert, Madison and Milania Apilado, and TJ and Mason Burgess.
