ARLINGTON -- Texas native, Tony Merl Lewis, 53, received his wings from the Lord Thursday, May 31, 2012, in Arlington.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 1800 W. Randol Mill Road, Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Give Kids The World Foundation, for kids with disabilities to experience Disney World the way he did.
Tony was born in Arlington on April 10, 1959, to Lindy and Nina Banks Lewis. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1977 and joined his family in owning The Typewriter Shoppe where he succeeded selling and repairing typewriters as well as copiers. He was most recently at American Airlines as a fleet service clerk for 15 years.
Tony has always had a lifelong love for traveling, especially Walt Disney World shared with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, skydiving, scuba diving and living life large. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather who will always be remembered for his huge heart and love for his family and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Nina Banks Lewis, in 2004 and brother, Terry Lewis, in 1992.
Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Speer Lewis; son, Joshua "J.T" Lewis and wife, Shea; his pride and joy, his 2-year-old grandson, Thatcher; daughter, Christie Vick and her husband, Gary; father, Lindy Lewis; loving nieces, Becky Milne, Anne Masterson, Nina Creasman; their mother, Kris Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
