Tommy Doyle Barnes

Tom Barnes, age 79 of Boise City, Oklahoma passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, January 25, 2024. No services will be scheduled at this time.

Tommy Doyle Barnes was born on March 30, 1944, to Wilbur and Elizabeth Barnes. Tom grew up in Whitesboro, Texas and later moved to Boise City, Oklahoma. Tom fell in love with Bonnie Kay Miller and married on June 18, 1965. They shared the responsibilities of their livelihoods and were true soul mates for 58 wonderful years.

Tom joined the Army National Guard in 1965, went to boot camp just a month after marrying Bonnie. Tom was a man of many trades, an avid rancher, farmer, correctional officer for the Texas Department of Corrections, and lastly as a Cimarron County Commissioner. He also served on the Boise City School Board. Tom retired from the Army National Guard and from the Texas Department of Corrections.

Tom a loving family man, spent his free time chasing his kids and grandkids in all their activities they were involved in. Whether it be football games, basketball games, FFA competitions, horse and livestock shows.

Tom always mischievous, loved to jump out and scare people. He was a bit on the ornery side, but it was a quality everyone loved about him. He passed this trait down to all his grandkids and great grandson.

Tom was proceeded in death by his parents Wilbur and Elizabeth Barnes, and grandson Trinity Avent.

SURVIVORS: His beloved wife Bonnie Barnes.

SON: Michael Barnes and his wife Katherine of Clayton, New Mexico

DAUGHTER: Tammie Avent and her husband Lavert of Mineral Wells, Texas

GRANDCHILDREN: Tyler Avent and his wife Stephanie of Mineral Wells, Texas. Maisen Avent of Mineral Wells, Texas. Kale Ballard Barnes, Keelan Ballard Barnes and Kiera Barnes of Clayton, New Mexico.

GREAT GRANDCHILD: Asher Grey Avent
