Tommy Dao was born in Arlington, Texas, on August 5, 1997, to Long Ngoc Dao and Hoang Thi Kim Dung. He attended schools throughout Texas, with his last school being the University of Texas at Arlington.
Tommy was a unique individual. He was known for being sweet, caring, funny, blunt, and for his love of spending time with friends and family. He had a passion for tennis, despite being advised against pursuing it. Tommy played tennis throughout high school, excelling at it and truly enjoying the sport.
Growing up, Tommy had various jobs, but his passion for gaming and anime ultimately led him to a career in computer programming. He was in the process of completing his degree when he fell ill. Despite being diagnosed with terminal cancer, he remained strong and accepted every form of treatment offered to him. Even until his very last breath, Tommy never complained or spoke of the pain and stress he was enduring.
Tommy embodied the true meaning of strength—his resilience and courage in the face of adversity will never be forgotten.
Tommy is preceded in death by grandparents, Hoàng Văn Đông, Phạm Thị Tạo, Đào Văn Vinh; uncle, Hoàng Văn Dũng, Hoàng Văn Phú, and Hoàng Tuấn Phong.
Tommy’s legacy is continued in life by his father, Long Dao; Mom, Kim Hoang; sister, Judy Dao; grandmother; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins; and a host of friends.
