Thomas McMullan Fowler, 88, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 in Arlington.
Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, February 11, at First Presbyterian Church, 1200 S. Collins St., Arlington.
Tom was born on September 27, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas to Jack Wells Fowler and Gwyndolyn Emma McMullan Fowler. He graduated from Missouri University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He went on to own an advertising agency and printing company where he was widely known for his loyalty to his employees.
Creative and an intellectual, Tom was a voracious reader and great debater. He loved sports, work and family, and was very involved in his church, First Presbyterian, Arlington, where he was a deacon. He also acted as a board member of the Arlington Soccer Association. Over the years, he coached many teams, refereed matches, and led the Arlington A’s girls’ team to many championship wins.
Tom was a fair and compassionate person, dedicated to serving others and giving to those in need. He was instrumental in caring for AIDS patients in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Tom was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Dallas Mavericks fan. At one time he held season tickets for every DFW team. He enjoyed life and loved to have a good time socializing with friends and family, hiking, driving his Jeep, and spending time in Colorado, his favorite place. Tom was fun-loving and ornery. He loved all genres of music but especially country and classical, often attending events at the Dallas and Fort Worth symphonies.
Tom will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; sisters, Diane Brockmeier and Janet Curtis; daughters, Cari Davis and Shannon Leland; sons, Todd Fowler and Pat Fowler; ten grandkids, and one great-granddaughter; and his dear friend and caregiver, Juanita Fragoso.
