Thomas Jasper Franklin Mitchell, 89, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 in Arlington.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorial Graveside: 1 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas.
Thomas was born on November 20, 1933 in Granby, Missouri to Jasper Franklin Mitchell and Leona Barrett Mitchell. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and worked as a mine sweeper. He worked in maintenance for a doctor’s office. Thomas was a handyman and craftsman. He could fix anything. Thomas was always very productive and on the go.
Thomas always stayed active. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved competition skeet/trap shooting. He was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Thomas enjoyed listening to gospel music.
He was a hard worker and did what he needed to do to support his family. He would always help them when he could. Family was very important to him. He was his happiest when he could spend time with them. He dearly loved his grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lola Jean Ritchey Mitchell; Daughter Sharon Rene Ely and Sisters, Opal Irene Mitchell, Amy Lucille Allen, Brothers Arthur Leon Mitchell, Mansel Mazola Mitchell
Survivors: Daughters, Paula JoElla Faulkner, husband Paul, Lola Diane Allen, husband Robert, Lila Darlene Ely, husband Bruce, and Linda Irene Auberry, husband Tom; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
