Thomas Alfred Colvin

Thomas Alfred Colvin (“Tom”), 83, was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on July 24, 1937, and passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020, with the love and prayers of his family and friends. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Burcham Colvin; daughter, Barbara Colvin Pritcher and husband, Jacob Ralph Pritcher, Jr.; son, Thomas Alfred Colvin, Jr. and wife, Lauretta Rice Colvin; and his grandchildren: Aaron Jacob Pritcher; Caitlin Paige Colvin Ragnell and her husband, Ryan Ragnell; Mason Thomas Pritcher and his fiancée, Mailee Saravia; and Gillian Leigh Colvin. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Ila Ullom Colvin and Betty Burcham Walker. Tom was happily married to the Love of His Life having met in high school in El Dorado, Arkansas. Both were dedicated EHS Band students, and both attended Louisiana Tech University, where Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry while active in the Air Force ROTC program. He spent several years in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. After being stationed in Georgia, Alabama, and Michigan, they returned to Bradley County [Arkansas] to raise their family. Tom was active in various service organizations including the Jaycees and a long-time member of the Warren Lions Club. He was a fixture in the choir loft at First United Methodist Church in Warren, Arkansas. Tom enjoyed his work at Potlatch Corporation and maintained a strong bond of friendship with his co-workers, even years after his retirement. His love for fishing, hunting, Arkansas Razorback football, and abiding “time & tide” along the Saline River [or as he would say, the “Sacred Ganges”] were his favorite pastimes. Spending time with extended family and friends brought him exceptional joy. Tom and Carol moved to Arlington, Texas, in April 2018, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They joined Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington where Tom could be seen joyously singing in the chancel choir. At Town Village Crossing, where he served on the Resident Council and the Hospitality Team, Tom was known to be an accomplished bean bag baseball player, the “birdman” keeping the bird feeders ready for meals, and someone who always had a smile and friendly conversation for everyone he encountered. Although the family will miss him on Earth, we are comforted to know he is reunited with his siblings, parents, and many other loved ones who departed before him. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Herbert Colvin and Irene Hammons Colvin; his brothers, Otis Herbert Colvin, Jr. and Morley Joe Colvin; his sister, Edith Colvin Dyal and her husband, William M Dyal; and his brother-in-law, Paul Dudley Walker.
