Mrs. Theresa (Terry) Furtner, of Pantego, TX, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the age of 84, to an everlasting life with the Heavenly Father.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, at the Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 12, at the funeral home. Memorials: Donations may be made to the Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (817-960-6455).
Terry was born Yoshiko Kimura in Gifu, Japan on October 15, 1933. She married Ray, a US Army soldier in 1954. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in December. A devoted wife and mother, Terry always put her family first. She was a talented artist in oriental calligraphy and watercolor painting. A certified teacher of Ikebana, she mastered the Japanese art of flower arrangement. Terry was a member of The Association of Oriental Arts (TAO) in Irving, Ikebana International (Fort Worth Chapter) and International Friends at First Baptist Church of Arlington where she developed close friendships with people from around the world. Generous with her time and talents, she eagerly baked her popular holiday cookies for many friends. Terry proudly volunteered for over twenty years at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her son William, who died very young.
Her beloved husband Ray and 3 daughters, Frances (Steve), Ann (Ki) and Laura (Jeff); 4 grandsons, Joe (Michaelene), Garett (Hannah), Andrew (Tori), Sam (Jaden); one great-grandson Brendan; and close family friends, Justin and Harina Yoon.
