Sursatti (Satti) was born on May 21, 1949 in Guyana, South America to Suruj and Rajwanti Singh. She was one of thirteen children. She grew up in the region of Ruimzeigt, a coastal farming community where she enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing with her siblings at the sea wall.
Satti received her primary and secondary education at Windsor Forest Anglican School. In August 1970, Satti married Karran Singh. Along with the birth of their five sons, Ravi, Arvind, Varuna, Rajiv, and Mitra; Satti and Karran formally adopted their niece, Roshini. Together with Karran's father, they immigrated to north Texas, settling in Arlington in the summer of 1989.
Satti built a home of nurture and comfort for her family and all that walked through the front door. Her love of children translated naturally into a thirty-year business of providing home childcare. This allowed her to become a financially independent entrepreneur, while still providing stability and a constant presence for her rambunctious boys.
As a pillar of strength, Satti was always present for her family and friends. Satti built community through her cooking; she showered anyone that entered her home with love and compassion and most importantly no one could leave on an empty stomach. She will be dearly missed by those who have known her for many years and those who have only recently come to know her kindness and warmth.
Satti is survived by her husband, Karran, her children Roshini, Ravi, Varuna, Rajiv, Mitra; daughter-in-law Jasmant;son-in-law, Ken; grandchildren, Rhea and Darin; brothers, Bismark, Jai, and Besham; and sisters, Patti, Datta, Dai, Jasmine, and Sandra. She was preceded in death by son, Arvind, her parents, brothers, Hardatt and Krishna, and sisters, Sunna and Paro.
