Stephen Arthur Tinberg

July 5, 1944 — October 19, 2022

Stephen Arthur Tinberg was born in Oklahoma City on July 5, 1944. Stephen was 2 of 4 children, born to Russell & Marguerite.

Growing up, Steve attended Henrietta High School, where he graduated in 1962. At a young age, he met the love of his life, Judy, and finally got to call her his wife and partner for life the very same year he graduated. Stephen and Judy were married for 54 years and were blessed with two amazing children, Stephanie and David.

As he was looking to support his wife and high school sweetheart, he worked as a firefighter in Overland Park, Kansas City, where he worked for 13 years. Steve and Judy then moved back to Oklahoma, where at the young age of 31, he achieved the honor of becoming the fire chief of the city of Edmond. After four years of serving as chief, he retired and transitioned to being a mentor to bright young minds at colleges over the states.

Steve was a wonderful son, husband, brother, father, and Papa. He never met a stranger and was known to his friends as a great mentor and teacher. Steve had a big heart and was never shy about showing his love to those around him. He left a lasting imprint on everyone he came across. Having a sweet tooth, he never met a cookie or flavor of ice cream he didn’t like! If you ever saw him around, Sadie, his beloved dog, was always by his side. Steve’s infectious laughter, humble spirit, and love will be greatly missed.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephenie Martin, grandchildren Amber Rauch, Michael Stovall, Rachel Harper, and Jarin Jorgensen, and seven great-grandchildren.

Steve is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Tinberg, and son, David Tinberg.

Steve requested a retired firefighters service. Dress uniforms are encouraged
