Stanley Peter Sommers Jr., age 78, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024. He was born on May 16, 1945, in Scranton, PA, and was the beloved son of Stanley and Mary Kiesel Sommers.

Stanley lived a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication to his passions. He graduated from Texas A&M University Commerce before embarking on a fulfilling career that included serving in the Navy as Senior Chief. He then went on to a second successful career with Sears where he made lasting contributions.

Among his many loves, Stanley had a profound appreciation for country and classical music, which accompanied him throughout his life’s journey. Traveling was another passion that allowed him to explore the world and create cherished memories.

A man of diverse interests and talents, Stanley found joy in various hobbies. From his involvement in amateur radio to his enthusiastic participation in the State Fair of Texas, he embraced each activity with enthusiasm and dedication. His prowess as a master griller, skilled gardener, and talented furniture restorer and jewelry maker brought joy to those around him.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mary Kiesel Sommers, his first wife Martha Knudson S., his sister Carol Arlt, his nephew Theodore Arlt, and his sister-in-law Tresa Sommers. Their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane, his sisters Janie Welch and husband, Gary and Ginny Young and husband, Rick, his brother Jerry Sommers, step-children, ParTowb and wife, Lorena, Natasha Mudford, Randall Towb and wife, Tiffany, Eliot Towb and wife, Melissa, Charles Towb and wife, Sarah, step-grandchildren, Lauren, Joshua, Jeremy and Levi and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will continue to honor his legacy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stanley’s memory may be made to the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) at 225 Main Street, Newington, CT 06111-1494, Catholic Charities in Fort Worth at 249 E. Thornhill Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76115, or the American Cancer Society.
Stanley will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. May he rest in eternal peace.
