Sidney Roberta Wilson

Sidney Roberta Braden Wilson, 86, of Arlington, Tx passed on Tuesday evening, February 2, 2021 after a life well lived. Services are being delayed until it is safer to gather. Sidney was born October 11, 1934 in Senath, MO to Veleeta Jones Braden and Oliver Braden as the youngest sister to Leonard Braden, Lemuel Braden and Betty Braden Langley. Growing up in Campbell, MO, Sidney proudly graduated at the top of her class at Campbell High School and worked for the Campbell paper during and after graduation. Sidney also served as a flight incident reporter for the local Flight Training Base. In Campbell, she met and married Charles Ramsey. They moved to the military base in California where they had a son, Mike Ramsey. Charles passed from injuries sustained in military training maneuvers when Mike was only 4 months old. Sidney then moved to Arlington, Texas buying a home directly behind her sister Betty's family. She worked for Arlington Medical Clinic for several years. Through the church group at Epworth Methodist, Sidney met and later married Harold Kenneth Wilson. Son Charlton Wilson was born next, and then with daughter Mary on the way in 1963, they built a home they would remain in the rest of their almost 61 year marriage. During these years, Sidney and husband Ken, twice temporarily lived in Northern Italy from 1961 – 1963 and from 1968-1970 for Ken's work with Bell Helicopter. Learning Italian, traveling across Europe and navigating a foreign country with small children brought Sidney wonderful lifetime memories. In addition to maintaining an immaculate home and a magazine-worthy yard while raising 3 kids, Sidney was not only active in school, church and community groups, but was almost always in leadership positions as well. From PTAs, to Story League, to serving several years as President of the Tarrant County Aggie Moms Club, she thrived on serving in these organizations. From Club and PTA meetings to family gatherings, Sidney was well known for her hostess skills. After Ken retired in 1995, they traveled in the U.S. partially for pleasure and partially for purpose. They researched and finalized much of the detailed genealogical history of the Braden, Ramsey and Wilson family lines collecting documentation along the way. Though Sidney desperately wanted to publish this work, they completed such detailed histories, the volumes would be huge if printed! With a car trip up the East Coast from Florida up to Nova Scotia and a trip up the West Coast all the way to Alaska, they made the most of retirement living. Mike's family was back out in California, so they visited their first grandson, Chris and his brother Rick, as they could. Charlton and Kathleen also lived out of state, giving yet another great excuse to travel. Mary and Jim's kids, Jamie, Alan, and Wilson were born and raised in Arlington, so Sidney (and Ken) provided hours of care and entertainment for their local grandkids. Holidays were always spent together. A lightening strike to their home caused extensive damage and required a rebuild of their home in 2009. It was after this traumatic life event that we began to see the signs of early dementia. A fall in 2015, accelerated her decline. Husband Ken is to be commended as a model of commitment in marriage. He was Mom's round the clock caregiver for the last 5 years. Most people would have given up. Thank you, Dad, for honoring Mom's wishes to stay in her home until her passing. Sidney is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, and countless loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Ken Wilson, son Mike Ramsey and wife, Martha (grandson, Chris Ramsey), son Charlton Wilson and wife, Kathleen, daughter Mary Wilson Turner and husband, Jim (granddaughter, Jamie Turner, grandson, Alan Turner, grandson, Wilson Turner and his fiancé, Ally Nuttal), former brother-in-law, Bill Ramsey, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her sister, Betty remain behind until the Reunion is complete.
