Shirley Maxine Kost of Pantego, Texas, 82, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 13, 2021 after over four months of fighting COVID-19 related issues.
Visitation: Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer, Arlington, TX on Tuesday, 5/18/2021 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Service: Globe Life Field, Wednesday, 5/19/2021 at 9:45. Parking in Lot R and enter at SW entrance. Graveside: Wednesday, 5/19/21 at 12:30pm at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Dr, Arlington, TX.
Shirley was born March 21, 1939, to Simon Alon and Lottie Frances Gray of Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Shirley married Calvin Eugene Kost September 17, 1960 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and lived in Chicago, Illinois where both were employed with American Airlines. They had daughter Donna and son Russell before moving to Hoffman Estates, Illinois in 1965. Shirley was heavily involved in local politics and held the office of Trustee in Schaumburg Township and held numerous offices in the local PTA. The family moved to Pantego, Texas in 1979 along with the American Airlines corporate relocation to DFW. Cal and Shirley became avid Rangers fans where Shirley became known as The Cookie Lady. Cal and Shirley became members of First Christian Church Arlington and have continued to stay active. Shirley played handbells in the handbell choir.
She was preceded in death by her brother David A. Gray.
She is survived by husband, Calvin E. Kost, sister, Marilyn F. Grubbs, daughter, Donna G. Vernon, son, Russell S. Kost and daughter-in-law Tracey A. Kost, and five grandchildren, Thomas, Lauren, Sammy, Rachel, and Emily.
Memorials can be made in memory of Shirley Kost to First Christian Church Arlington or Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
