Shirley Jeanean Strickland

Shirley J. Strickland, 74, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021. A private graveside service to be held for family Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Parkdale Cemetery. Shirley was born Aug. 24, 1946, to RC and Hellen Strickland, née Adkins, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated from Duncanville High School in 1964, and upon graduation began working for the US Army Corps of Engineers, first in Dallas, Texas, and later in the downtown Fort Worth, Texas office. She retired from the Corps of Engineers after over 40 years of service. While Shirley never married or had children, she was an active part of her niece's and nephew's lives. She loved baking, traveling, and music: a passion she shared with her entire family. She is preceded in death by her parents, RC and Hellen Strickland, and her brother, Randy Strickland. Survivors: nephew Gray Strickland and wife, Corie, of Keller; niece Katie Ford and husband, Jason, of Tahlequah, Okla; great-nieces/nephews Melody Reed, Trinity Reed, Jacob Ford, Gavin Strickland, and Rebecca Strickland.
