Shirley Jane Gall Fields

February 7, 1933 — October 4, 2023

Arlington, TX – Shirley Jane Gall Fields, 90, a wonderful, loving, and sweet wife, mother, grandmother passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

A Visitation, with a Rosary, will be held on Wednesday, October 11 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home (4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington). A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church (1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington). Burial will be Friday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, where she will rest next to her husband, Gene Fields (2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Lane A, Dallas, TX).

Shirley was born to Mae and Edgar Gall in her grandmother’s home in King City, Missouri. The family moved to St. Joseph, Missouri where Shirley grew up with her three protective brothers. She attended Catholic school, loved dancing and going out with her friends. In 1952, Shirley was crowned “Miss Perfect 36” and acted as a goodwill ambassador for Highway 36, traveling to various cities along the length of the highway promoting its use. She even met General Dwight Eisenhower and had tea with his wife, Mamie.

In 1954, she married the love of her life, Gene Fields, after a whirlwind romance. They settled in Arlington where they raised their five children and spent most of their 54 years together on Academy Drive. She was very active with family and friends and retired from Sears after 15 years. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic church for 68 years.

Shirley loved her faith and her church. She was most proud of her family and was a natural mother to all. She never met a stranger and welcomed all into her home. Her smile will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father (Mae and Edgar), husband (Gene), and brothers Robert (Bob) and Francis (Fritz) Gall.

Shirley is survived by her children, Pamela (Alexander) Webb, Donna (Jimmy) Cox, Gene (Jan) Fields, Eddie (Kim) Fields, and John (Sonjia) Fields; grandchildren, Trey (Yeting) Webb, Tracy and Andrea Cox, Austin (Joe) Cariati, Connor (Daniela) Fields, Becky and Kaden Fields, Aubrey and Christian Parent, and Courtni, Addie and Quinn Fields; her brother Dean Gall, and sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Gall; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
