Shirley Anne Scarbrough Pylant, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, in Arlington, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born on December 25, 1934, in Healdton, Oklahoma, to Leo and Jess Scarbrough. She shared a beautiful life journey with her husband Ted Roy Pylant, whom she met as a young teenager in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Ted, a United States Marine, wrote her letters every day, showcasing their enduring love story. Together, they created a lifetime of cherished memories.

Described as the ultimate extrovert, Shirley had a radiant spirit that drew people towards her. She loved people and talking and could make friends everywhere. She exuded warmth and kindness, always willing to lend a listening ear and offer sage advice. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she spent both her time and financial resources in service to others.

Devoted to her health and wellness, Shirley had a passion for nutrition and natural supplements. She maintained an active lifestyle and was always “on the go”. Her zest for life was evident in her many adventures, especially her love for traveling with friends to destinations near and far. Shirley’s unforgettable hot air balloon ride in Fort Worth, Texas, encapsulated her adventurous spirit and love for new experiences.

Shirley was the adoring mother of daughters Nancy O’Brien and Anne Suzette Pylant; son Chris (Tracy) Pylant. She was a doting grandmother to Nick (Christina) O’Brien, Tess O’Brien, Clay Pylant, Tate Pylant, Cole Pylant, and five great-grandchildren. She found immense joy in her family and created lasting bonds that will be treasured forever.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Jess Scarbrough, beloved husband Ted Roy Pylant, brother Phillip Scarbrough, and grandson Sean O’Brien.

Though she may no longer be physically present, Shirley’s love and light will continue to shine through the memories she created with those who knew and cherished her.
