BURLESON -- Shirley Ann Godbold, 81, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Northwest Christian Church, 1001 N. Davis Drive, Arlington. Interment: 11:30 a.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane C, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Shirley was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Oklahoma to Glenn and Lorene K. Covert. She lovingly raised her four children, and then returned to school where she earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. She then worked as an accountant for several years until retiring.
Shirley resided in Pantego and Arlington for many years and was a member of Northwest Christian Church. She was an expert quilter and a deacon at her church. She loved teaching ESL (English as a second language) classes at NWCC, where she was much loved by her students.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Neil H. Godbold, on July 26, 2005.
Survivors: Daughter, Laura Jenkins Melton; sons, Brian, Jeffrey and Russell Jenkins; stepsons, Jeff and Scott Godbold and families; brother, Gary Covert and wife, Susan; sisters, Dr. Linda Davis, and Martha Ancona and husband, Leon; granddaughters, Christie Purvis, Jocelyn Jenkins, Rylee Melton; and grandsons, Chase and Tyler Purvis.
