Sherry Ellen Nelson on February 2, 1944 in Centralia, Illinois to Arvle and Beulah Nelson. As an infant, her family moved to Oklahoma for her father to pursue work in the Oil Field. She graduated from Haskell High School, where she enjoyed band and became a majorette.

She met Bill Apperson at work with AT&T, when he came to request a new phone line and they married a few months later on August 19, 1966. While on a trip to Six Flags in 1970, they fell in love with the area, bought a house and moved to Arlington, where they became members of Fielder Road Baptist Church.

Sherry was a stay-at-home Mom most of her life, helping to shuffle her children to their activities. As her husband’s Car Wash business grew, she partnered with him and handled all accounting needs. She also loved and cherished all our family pets. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, going to church and participating in organizations such as New Friends, Garden Club and Junior League.

Sherry met Bob Fortenbaugh in 2022, they became friends and started a new adventure together. During the time they had together, they enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, dancing, Meals on Wheels and going to church at Trinity United Methodist Church.
