Sharon McGinnis

July 11, 1944 — April 22, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sharon Lynn McGinnis, 80, who passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Sharon was born on July 11, 1944, at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, to Finis C. Brannam and Norma (Remmers) Brannam.

Sharon was a proud graduate of MacArthur High School in San Antonio (1962) where she was a member of the drill team. She earned her Associate's Degree from San Antonio Community College. Following her education, Sharon began a long and successful career in banking, which spanned over 35 years. She started at Republic Bank and eventually became a Vice President at Bank of America. Sharon's strong work ethic, integrity, and patriotism were evident in everything she did, and her legacy will live on through her family, friends, and colleagues.

On April 2, 1966, Sharon married the love of her life, Michael B. McGinnis, and together, they created a loving and nurturing home. Their 56-year marriage was a testament to the strength of their bond and devotion to each other. Sharon and Mike raised two sons, Jon and Todd, and shared in the joys of family life, from camping and fishing trips to supporting their children's sports and extracurricular activities. Sharon was a dedicated and active mother, volunteering with the school PTA, Boy Scouts, YMCA, and various other community organizations.

Sharon's spirit extended far beyond her family, as she was deeply involved in numerous social and professional organizations. She was a member of the Duncanville Women's Club, Oak Cliff Women's Club, Lecture Luncheon, Thorn Tree Book Review, Executive Women's International, and her sorority, the Xi Rho Beta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was an avid mahjong player and also a bowler. Sharon's ability to connect with others and her genuine kindness made her a beloved presence in her community.

In addition to her work and community involvement, Sharon's love for her family was at the heart of everything she did. Her strength, resilience, and love for her sons and late husband will remain a cherished memory. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, who passed on July 9, 2022.

Sharon is survived by her two sons, Jon McGinnis (and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth) and Todd McGinnis and her grandchildren, Hunter, Colton, and Easton, loving partner Harry Mast and her cats Sherlock, Sophie and Sadie and her partner's dog, Sugar. A host of extended family and friends will also miss her dearly.
