Sharon Kay Mullanax, 80, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Arlington with her loving husband at her side.
Sharon was born on November 10, 1940 in Lubbock, Texas to Cecil and Ruby Sanders. She met the love of her life, Gayle, at Texas Tech University and they married prior to his attending medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After graduation, she became a military wife while he was a flight surgeon at Webb Air Force Base Texas. They moved to Rochester, MN for his specialty training in dermatology at Mayo Clinic. In 1970, they moved to Arlington where they raised their three children.
Sharon loved animals of all kinds, gardening and reading. She also loved to travel with Gayle. They took many trips all over the world and she always had interesting stories to tell about people she would meet along the way. She enjoyed being around people and loved to entertain. She was well known for her parties and her unique sense of humor.
She also enjoyed music, the symphony and musical theater.
Sharon did a lot of volunteer work and had a passion for serving others. She particularly enjoyed the Junior League of Arlington, the Civic League and the NGA.
Sharon, AKA Katze, will be sorely missed by her family and friends. They are comforted to know that she is with her savior, Jesus Christ.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Milton "Gayle" Mullanax; son, Greg Mullanax and wife, Susan; daughters, Susan Riddles and husband, Scott, and Mindy Roberts and husband, Steve; sister, Celia Sanders; grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Riddles, Mason Mullanax, Adrienne Piontek, Blake and Nathan Roberts; and great-grandchildren, Jack and Tommy Riddles.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, September 19, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 20, at First United Methodist Church, 313 N. Center St., Arlington, TX. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington.
