Shane spent most of his “growing up” years in the Bedford, Texas area. He became a lifelong friend and “co-conspirator / troublemaker” to a multitude of his buddies. After graduating from L.D. Bell High School in 1993, he proudly served in the US Marine Corps (1993-1996). After his service in the Marines, he worked in the security system industry in the DFW area as a licensed Fire Alarm Technician and spent several years with Union Pacific Railroad as an electrical power technician.
Shane was never happier than he was when riding his Harley Davidson. He owned several, through the years, and was rarely seen without a Harley Davidson T-Shirt on!
He enjoyed strumming his banjo and shared his joy of cooking with through his culinary skills, ranging from crawfish boils to smoked briskets or with simpler fares of meatballs and mac and cheese. Good stuff!
He became a “Drone Master”, building and flying an entire fleet of drones. He studied hard and earned his Remote Pilot Certification last summer.
Preceded in death by infant brother, Keith, grandparents, Rev. Vernon and Lorine Harley and Walt and Ginny Stadelman.
Shane is survived by his mother, Mary Ann, father, Nathan, step-mother, Sharron, brother Brett, step-siblings, Rob and Angie Allen, nieces and nephews, Cole, Cody, Stacie, Dylan, Jess, Shelby and Hunter, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. And of course he will be greatly missed by friends galore!
Please use this tragedy as a reason to educate and understand mental health issues and support suicide prevention. To quote Cody (his nephew) “We lost a lot of “legends” in the past year or two. Today, though, we lost another one, not a world wide famous legend but a true legend to the Harley family. Uncle Shane was a great man and didn't deserve to suffer. Uncle Shane will be a “BIG MISS” in this family and to many others. R.I.P Uncle Shane”
