Sandra June Wood

February 20, 1942 — August 2, 2021

Sandra "Sandy" June Moss Wood left this earthly world to be joined by the angels on August 2, 2021. Sandy was born in Elmira, New York on February 20, 1942. She attended Southside High School and in later years graduated from cosmetology school and soon opened her own salon. In the early 1970s, she relocated to Texas with her family. Eventually, she went on to work as one of the top salespeople at Mary Kay cosmetics. In the 1980s, Sandy went to college and received her degree in accounting at the age of 42. She worked in that field for several years followed by a role as a computer systems analyst until her retirement. One of Sandy's greatest joys in life was her love of animals. She enjoyed the companionship of her furry friends throughout every stage of her life. Sandy was always a very talented artist, whether she was styling someone's hair or showing them the best way to wear their makeup; but her most outstanding artistry was on canvas. Over her lifetime, she created some of the most beautiful paintings. Most of them reside with family members to be kept as heirlooms, but others were fortunate enough to purchase them at art gatherings. She was also well versed in the art of pottery, macrame, and cartoon illustration. Aside from her artistic abilities, she was also one of the best cooks ever! Her famous Thanksgiving stuffing, pie recipes, coconut cake, spaghetti sauce, and chicken and dumplings will continue to be part of family dinners for generations to come. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and June Moss; and her brother, Ronald Moss. She is survived by her husband, Danny Wood; her brother, Vernon Moss; and her children, Kim Weaver, Charlene Stone, Thomas Middaugh, and Kelly Weckherlin; as well as her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Sandy will be memorialized at a private family celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. https://give.bcrf.org/give/302920/#!/donation/checkout Wade Family Funeral Home (817) 274-9233
