The Life of Sam Herrin
Sam Ward Herrin, 64, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in Arlington.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, 5011 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington.

Sam was born on July 6, 1954 in Waxahachie, Texas to Carlisle Aston Herrin and Mary Sue Ward Herrin. He graduated from Italy High School and was a graduate at the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He had a successful career working for Freight Master, Halliburton, Vought, Gearhart/Owen, Magna Engineering and spent 25 years running his own company, Sam Herrin & Associates. Sam loved wood working, making many handmade creations for his loved ones and family. He also had a passion for photography, and was the official designated photographer for all family vacations and holiday gatherings. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, traveling with family and watching University of Texas football. Sam was a godly man, fun loving and just enjoyed life in general, but most of all, he loved spending time with his kids and five grandchildren. They were the light of his life and brought him so much joy. He was known for his quick wit and joking manner, his kind and generous heart and for leaving a lasting impression on all those he met.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Carlisle Herrin; and brother, Charles Herrin.
Survivors: Wife of 44 years, Karen Ann Tyler Herrin; son, Tyler Herrin and wife, Amy; daughter, April Shomper and husband, Jason; mother, Mary "Sue" Herrin; brothers, Tom Herrin and wife, Kathy, and Jon Herrin and wife, Diana; grandchildren, Brady Shomper, Avery Shomper, Addison Shomper, Abigail Herrin and Jacob Herrin; and a host of friends.
