Sally Gibson Webb, 79, was called to her Heavenly home on Friday, February 16, 2024 after a long road of living with the challenges of dementia.
Sally was born on August 31, 1944, the second of four children born to James and Frances Gibson of Temple, Texas. Having a rich childhood under the care and love of family including some very special aunts in her life, she left Temple to pursue her bachelor’s degree at Texas Tech University. While at Tech, she pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority where she forged friendships with some lifelong sisters and friends. After college, Sally moved to Dallas and while working as an elementary school teacher at R. E. Good in Carrollton, she met the neighbor from upstairs, John “Johnny” Webb, who became the love of her life. They married on December 23, 1967, and were overjoyed to have sons Kevin and Chris complete their family. In 1978 they moved to Lake Highlands and the home that would serve the family for the next 25 years. Sally was an active member of the community, contributing by substitute teaching, leading scout troops and performing all the tasks involved in support of her children’s very active lives. As the boys moved into high school, she rejoined the workforce as an advertising salesperson for the technology magazine “Mainframe Journal”.
Sally and Johnny had a loving and joyful marriage and were great partners in their activities together. They were faithful members of Dallas’ First United Methodist Church for decades where they acted as leaders of the Double Aires Sunday school class. With great dedication they served countless hours at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital earning them recognition as outstanding volunteers.
Sally was proceeded in death by her husband Johnny and brothers Jay and Bill. She is survived by her sons Kevin Webb and wife Steffanie, Chris Webb and wife Rainey and her sister Jean Karr and husband Bob. She was most proud of her role was as “Monny” to her five grandchildren Christopher, Kathryn, Gibson, Gabby and Nicholas Webb.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 15 at 11:00 am in the Auditorium inside The Point Activity Center on the campus of C.C. Young, 4847 West Lawther Drive, Dallas, Texas 75214.
