Sabine Borgnet-Harris was born on the border of France and Belgium on November 26, 1956. Eventually, she found her home in Grand Prairie, Texas. The wife of Charles Harris, mother of Terence and Sarah, Sabine passed away on May 19, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.
Sabine came to the United States to teach French, not because teaching was her passion, but because she was driven to explore. She had anticipated being housed in New Orleans. Instead, they sent her to a tiny town north of Shreveport where she met the love of her life. Sabine and Charlie married and moved to Corpus Christi where both of her children were born. A new job offer for Charlie brought them to Arlington, Texas, where Sabine was able to go back to school and earn a degree in Civil Engineering. Even after earning her degree, Sabine was constantly looking for new things to learn or do. She pushed her children to pursue their own passions, including piloting licenses and partners. Terence’s wife, Christina, and Sarah’s boyfriend, Willie, were as welcome at her table as her own children.
After retirement, Sabine wasn’t content to sit around the house. She went back to teaching French at an adult level. She began learning Italian and Portuguese. She discovered cruising as a way to see many new places in one trip, sampling the Caribbean. She traveled to Rome and Ecuador. She often talked about other places she wanted to visit.
An amazing, intelligent woman with a generous spirit and a welcoming heart, the world is dimmer without her smile.
