Rudolf Reyes, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 22, in Pasadena, Texas after a courageous fight against cancer.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington. Interment: Rudolf will be interred with his wife at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 1, with a rosary beginning at 3 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Rudolf's charitable interests including Carry the Load, Catholic Charities, and American Cancer Society.
Rudolf was born January 25, 1938 and raised in San Antonio, Texas graduating from Lanier High School in 1956. He completed his education with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Arlington. Rudolf served honorably in the United States Air Force for 22 years retiring as Master Sargent. In 1974, Rudolf and Elva moved the family to Arlington, Texas where he worked as an Air Traffic Controller at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Rudolf forged many friendships in Arlington by being active in the Knights of Columbus #6269 rising to Grand Knight, the Elks Club of Arlington, and many Catholic churches in Arlington. He was loved by many and left a great legacy from humble beginnings.
Rudolf is preceded in death by his wife, Elva Jimenez Reyes (2010), parents, Benigno M. (1971) and Herlinda Garza Reyes (2003), and older brother, Benigno Reyes (2010).
Survivors: He is survived by brother, Robert (Susie); sister, Rosario Cantu (Lionel); daughter, Elva Collinsworth (Terry); daughter, Cynthia Bailey (Michael); son, Rudolf Ray Reyes (Kelly); son, Rene Reyes (Sydney); son, Ralph Reyes (Tia); grandchildren, Davin Collinsworth, Thomas Collinsworth, Amelia Collinsworth, Samantha Harris (Anthony), Mallory Reyes, Beckham Reyes, Chelsea Reyes, Christopher Bailey (Elizabeth), Clayton Bailey; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Braxton Bailey; and many special in-laws, cousins, nephews, and nieces. The family expresses great appreciation to Sylvia Ramirez and her grand family including children Ray Ramirez (Kathy), Roger Ramirez (Nicole), Roland Ramirez (Connie), Russel Ramirez, Rebecca Clark (Tommy), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rudolf spent his final three years in Houston, Texas with Sylvia. Sylvia and her family provided great support during his illness.
