his wife of 37 years, Ruth “Winkie” Hazelwood. He is preceded in death by his
parents, Roscoe and Mamie Hazelwood (Westbrook), and siblings, Warren
Hazelwood, Marty Cochran, and Jerry Gensler. He is survived by his sister, Bobbie

Bella, and Destin, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Roy attended Mesquite High School and UTA. He worked at Dr. Pepper, Dallas
Linens, and Home Interiors. His friend, Don Carter, gave Roy the opportunity to
learn a new trade working the printing press at Home Interiors. It was this new
skill that allowed him to accept a job at Vought Aircraft, where he worked for 34
years until he retired in 1999.
Christ never stopped pursuing Roy as his own. As Roy was forced to slow down
due to his health, he was finally able to hear God’s voice. Roy prayed the “Sinner’s
Prayer” and accepted the gift of Salvation. Roy prayed and talked to God regularly.
The night before his passing, he told his wife that he did not think he would make it
through the night. He said that he saw and spoke with Jesus. It is a blessing to
know that he went from his wife’s loving arms into Jesus’ loving arms for eternity.
