Roy Bode

November 6, 1927 — May 28, 2017

Roy Bode was born in Earlsboro, Oklahoma on November 6, 1927 to Marguriete Ruth Kendall and Evan Chancellor Bode. He and his younger brother, Wallace Ray "Bud" lived in California with their mom and in Oklahoma with their dad growing up. As a teenager he went to work for his dad as a roughneck near Post, Texas. He met and married Betty Sue Ingram, the prettiest girl in Garza County, on Valentine's Day of 1948. They had two children, Roy Evan and Kathy Sue and were married for 69 years, 3 months and 2 weeks on Sunday. He also touched the lives of his extended family, Bud's children, Judy Ray, Ramona and Cindy, Earl and Ruth's boys, Joe Earl, and JP, who was Jon Paul until Roy decided that Jon Paul looked more like a "JP" and shortened his name....and it stuck! Hugh and Norma's children, Mark, Phil and Jana were all lucky enough to have fond memories of Uncle Roy. For not only his children but also his beloved nieces and nephews, Roy meant love, stability, support, and an endless supply of entertainment. Roy always has a way of making everyone he loved feel like they are really unique, and worthy of love. I said “has” because that feeling didn't go away on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Always the protector, Roy waited for Kathy, Kacy and Kara to leave his bedside. He waited for his friend, JP, to be there with him and then he went home. Roy is preceded in death by his mother and step father, Marguriete and John Smith, father and step-mother, E.C. and Treva Bode, his brother, Wallace Ray (Bud) Bode. Survivors include his beautiful wife of 69 years, Betty Sue (Ingram) Bode; son, Roy Evan Bode, and wife, Ellen, of St. Augustine, Florida; daughter, Kathy Sue (Bode) Cahill, of Mansfield, Texas; granddaughters, Kacy Beth (Cahill) Mitchell and great-grandson, Jackson Hugh Mitchell, of Austin, Texas; and Kara Brooke (Cahill) Mitchell and husband, Marcus, and great-grandson-on-the-way, Silas Roy Mitchell, of Midlothian, Texas. He will be remembered by many friends, cousins and nieces and nephews. Wade Family Funeral Home 817-274-9233
