Roy A. Rawlings, 68, suffered a heart attack and died at home in Kennedale on November 18, 2020. Roy was born in Fort Worth and raised on the North Side. He attended North Side High School and joined the Air force Reserves after graduation in 1970. Following an honorable discharge, Roy worked in sales for JD Higgins in Arlington. In 1989, Roy discovered his talent for leather work and taught him self the art of boot making. He owned his successful business, The Best Little Boot Shop, on Azle Avenue for 17 years until he retired and moved to Kennedale.
Roy married Alice Prochaska in 2003 and they loved dancing, motorcycle riding, touring the Hill Country, traveling in their RV and living the peaceful country life in rural Kennedale. Roy was constantly working on their acreage and was never without a project. Roy's laid back personality and mischievous smile made him a memorable character that will be missed and never forgotten.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elsie Rawlings.
Roy is survived by his wife, Alice Prochaska Rawlings, his two stepsons, Toby Gowins of League City, Texas and Jason Gowins and wife, Andrea of Keller. He will be greatly missed by his step-grandchildren, Hannah Endres, Jackson and Tyler Gowins and Nova Gowins. Roy is also survived by two sisters and a brother.
Because of the Covid virus, Alice will wait until after the first of the year to have a celebration of life to share fond memories and stories of Roy with family and friends.
