Rosina (Rosie) Baumgartner Halpin completed her earthly journey on Saturday July 7, 2018.
Visitation: Tuesday, July 10, 2018 6-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the church.
Rosie was born on December 12, 1930 in Atchison, Kansas as the 4th child of Andrew Baumgartner and Pauline (Miller) Baumgartner. She attended St. Benedict's Grade School, Mount St. Scholastica High School and College, and she worked as a doctor's assistant.
Vacationing in Virginia Beach, Virginia, she met the love of her life in June of 1952, Joseph (Joe) Halpin, who was stationed at Langley Air Force Base, VA. They had a long distance penmanship courtship when Joe was deployed to Kunson, Korea through March of 1953. After a short engagement, they were married on December 26, 1953, and they moved to Arlington in 1958. Joe and Rosie were blessed with 5 daughters, Zina, Mary Eileen, Karen, Melanie, and Peggy.
Rosie was active in St. Maria Goretti (SMG) PTA, Altar Society, several bridge clubs, and she was President of LTV Engineering Wives Club and later, the newsletter editor of the SMG Leisure Club. Rosie was proud of her volunteer service at Arlington Memorial Hospital these last 46 years.
Joe and Rosie have enjoyed camping, traveling, activities (square dancing) and attending their children's and grandchildren's athletic events, concerts, and plays.
Rosie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joe, her daughter Rosina (Zina) Juroch and husband Joe, daughter Mary Eileen DelPrincipe and husband Joe, Karen Halpin (of Martinez, CA), Melanie Milone and husband Bob, Peggy Faber and husband Rob (of Vancouver, WA) and grandchildren Josh Juroch, Kristen Rosina Ellis and husband Will, Katherine Juroch, Joey DelPrincipe, Vince DelPrincipe and wife Denise, Dominic DelPrincipe and and Micah, Victor DelPrincipe, Ricky DelPrincipe, Luke Milone, Jackson Milone, Maggie Faber, Robbie Faber and Jenny Faber, and step-granddaughter Lorenza Stolle and husband Joe (of La Cygne, KS), great grandchildren Kinsley Rosina & Karley Ellis, Sofia and Louie DelPrincipe, and Natalia Rose DelPrincipe, and step-great grandchildren Bella, Matthew and Ryan Stolle and a host of family and friends.
Her parents and two sisters, Sr. Rosina Baumgartner, OSB, and Pauline Amrein, and brother Dr. George J. Baumgartner preceded her in death.
