Ronnie (Ron) Keith Slaughter, 76, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Ron on Tuesday, December 19 at 2:00 pm at
Wade Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, TX 76013
Ron was born and raised in Garland, Texas and later attended East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University Commerce). After college, he worked for many years in the apparel business and finished the last 20 years of his career working for J & J Supply in Fort Worth. Ron loved his work at J & J because of his many friends, co-workers, and customers in the business. In 1983, Ron married the love of his life – Sherry McWilliams – and they were married for over 40 years.
Ron enjoyed the water – boating, skiing, or just having a beer while at the river or lake with friends and family. He loved fishing on Lake Tawakoni with Sherry and hunting with his special group of friends, but his biggest passion was spending time with his grandkids as they were growing up. Ron had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back but expected you to wash it and keep it clean – he taught us all many life lessons.
Ron was preceded in death by his mom and dad, DC and Marcella Slaughter.
He is survived by children D’Ann Reamer and her husband Kevin, Tommy Bridges, Kelly Bridges; grandchildren Jamie Ditty and her husband Ben, Kyle Reamer and his wife Courtney, Katy Reamer, Darby Bridges, Hannah Bridges; great grandkids Andrew Ditty, Hudson Ditty, Margot Reamer, Millie Reamer; brother Joe Slaughter; nephews Frank Slaughter, Joey Slaughter and nieces Marisa and Lindsay.
