Rogers B. Citizen

Rogers (Poone) B. Citizen passed away peacefully at his home in Arlington, Texas, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 10, 1946, to Lucien and Julia Citizen in Church Point, Louisiana.

Rogers leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: his son, Nathan (Toni) Citizen of Ypsilanti, Michigan; three daughters, Paula Duriseau of Arlington, Texas, Jeanne’ (Patrick) Pappion of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ingue (Ezra) Avie of Arlington, Texas; and nine grandchildren, Steven (Vivian) Duriseau and Morgan (Jacob) Pizana of Arlington, Texas, Hali and Sara Citizen of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Julia, Travis, and Olivia Pappion of Fort Worth, Texas, Isabella Thomas of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Kylie Citizen of Sulphur, Louisiana.

He was also blessed to have five great-grandchildren with whom he shared a special bond: Rosemerrie (Wosie), Jiriaya (Lil Man), and Neveah (Lil Head) and Logan (Worm) of Arlington, Texas, and Genevieve Semien (Lil Bird) of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Rogers is survived by his sister, Shirley (Willard) Hall of Houston, Texas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Meritta Fontenot Citizen; his son, Travis L. Citizen; his son-in-law, Stephen J.G. Duriseau; his parents; and his siblings.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas. Chaplain Dave Tucker will officiate.
