Roger Voss

Roger Chandler Voss, born on November 8, 1957, in Joliet, Illinois, to Lyle Voss and Doris Mull, passed away on November 25, 2024. A devoted father, proud U.S. Army veteran, and faithful servant of God, Roger leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

Roger’s 10 years of service in the U.S. Army reflected his deep sense of duty and commitment to others, values that continued to guide him throughout his life. Above all, Roger cherished his role as a father, raising his daughters, Lisa and Lori, as a single parent—a role he considered his greatest accomplishment. His love for his children extended boundlessly to his grandchildren: Anthony, Alexis, Farrah, Miriam, and Alia. He found joy in shared moments with them, whether cheering at Dallas Stars or Texas Rangers games with Anthony, shopping with Alexis, or enjoying park outings and theater performances with Farrah, Miriam, and Alia. Among his most beloved traditions was dressing as Santa Claus each Christmas, delighting his family with festive dinners and watching Frosty the Snowman with Alia.

Roger’s love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He honored his late mother’s memory with heartfelt gestures, such as visiting her grave to place new flowers every holiday, and maintained a close bond with his late brothers, Lyle and Lance Voss. His relationships with his niece Kaleigh, nephew Garrett, niece Courtney, and cousin Renee were deeply cherished, as was his connection to Renee’s children.

With a heart for service, Roger gave generously of his time to organizations like the Salvation Army and Mission Arlington, embodying his belief in helping others. As a supporter of the Gideons, he took pride in distributing Bibles, ensuring others could access the word of God. His kindness extended to everyone he met, always offering encouragement, support, or a listening ear.

Faith was the foundation of Roger’s life. A lifelong member of Lamar Baptist Church, he was known for his sincere prayers and unwavering devotion to God. His faith guided him in every aspect of life, influencing his relationships and inspiring his acts of service.

Roger’s career reflected his passion for people and community. As a manager at Luby’s, he fostered a welcoming and family-oriented atmosphere, blending his love for homestyle cooking with his dedication to serving others. Beyond work, Roger found joy in life’s simple pleasures—family road trips, good meals, and quality time with loved ones.

Roger is survived by his daughters Lisa and Lori, his five grandchildren, and numerous extended family members, including Kaleigh, Garrett, Courtney, and Renee. He also leaves behind lifelong friends Mark and Ken, who were like brothers to him. His warmth, humor, and boundless compassion touched everyone he encountered, and his legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.
