Arlington, Texas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Stanton Thomas, age 68, of Arlington, Texas, on November 26, 2024. Born on February 25, 1956, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Roger was a beloved friend, brother, and uncle whose vibrant spirit and infectious humor touched the lives of all who knew him.

Roger's passions spanned many interests, from Mini golf, Ford Mustangs, and railroads to beach volleyball, surfing, and car shows. He was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest, often spotted at his favorite spots like Manhattan Beach or cheering on his beloved sports teams. Whether attending LA Kings and Lakers games during his time in California, participating in Mini golf tournaments, or enjoying the beach with his friends Eric Ellenberger and Richard Hess, Roger's enthusiasm and joy were contagious.

Roger's lifelong friendship with his best friend, with whom he shared countless adventures, was a cornerstone of his life. Together, they shared many special moments, from Knott's Berry Farm car shows to watching Alfred Hitchcock films, The Twilight Zone, and Big Wednesday. His friends fondly referred to him as "Thomas Woods" after the legendary golfer Tiger Woods, a nod to Roger's impressive skills on the Mini golf course.

Roger was also known for his kindness and generosity. He dedicated 17 years of his life to caring for his aunt in California and was a dependable and hard-working presence for his coworkers at the La Quinta Hotel in Arlington. Hired in 2020, Roger started in an entry-level position and worked his way up to Maintenance Lead, earning the respect and admiration of all who worked alongside him.

On September 14, 2024, during a memorable drive home from a heart doctor appointment with his best friend, Joe Smith, Roger made a life-changing decision, inviting Jesus into his heart and beginning a new chapter of faith and spiritual growth. This moment marked the beginning of Roger's deepening relationship with the Bible and his journey of faith.

Roger was described by his friends and loved ones as cheerful, helpful, funny, and always ready with a joke or a kind word. His loyalty and support for those he cared about were unmatched, and he was a great friend, brother, and confidant. Roger's passion for life and his commitment to others will never be forgotten.

Roger's love for sports was evident, particularly in his fierce support of the Dallas Cowboys, always the first to shout, "Go Cowboys!" at family gatherings. He enjoyed traditions such as watching football with his loved ones, where his infectious enthusiasm and laughter filled the room.

Roger leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished by his lifelong friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his friends, family, and the many loved ones who will miss his caring heart, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering friendship.

A celebration of Roger's life will take place privately, as no public service is planned. In his memory, we invite all who knew him to remember his cheerful spirit and love of life.

Rest in peace, Roger. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
