Rodger Ray Poe, of Keller, TX, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in Keller, TX. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on Saturday October 5, 1946 in Stockbridge, MI to Edward and Bertha Poe. Rodger attended Stockbridge High School and Eastern Michigan University. He taught high school math, taught drivers ed and coached the golf team in Stockbridge, MI. He moved to Texas in 1980 with his family and taught a few more years of middle school math. After that Rodger went back to school for computer programming and eventually worked for Fidelity Union Life/Allianz Life until 2000. He married his wife Mary Fears Poe on August 12, 1989. He played golf until he had to have knee surgery. He started driving school in 2002 (Green Light Driving Academy), and officially retired in summer of 2021. He was able to teach 3 of his grandchildren how to drive. He traveled all over the country and visited every state official university campus. He enjoyed watching baseball and golf was an avid Texas Ranger and Detroit Tiger fan. Rodger is survived by his wife Mary; children, Kevin Poe, Kyle and Cindy Poe, Korey and Angie Poe, Kimberly Poe, Joseph Poe; brother, Calvin Poe; grandchildren, Ryan Poe, Mallory Poe, Haven Poe, Ronan Poe, Travis Poe, Heidi Poe and many many nieces and nephews.
Rodger is preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers and sisters, (Louis, Mary, Jewel, Rotha, Hershell, Frank, Anne. Elise and Grace.
A service will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 a 2:00pm at St. Albans Anglican Church in Arlington; 911 S. Davis Dr., Arlington Tx.
In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Judes, and American Heart Association.
