Robin was born in Washington D.C. to Edward and Dorothy Green on December 7, 1937. He went to school at Archbishop John Carroll High School and graduated from the University of Maryland. In 1966, he met the love of his life, Heidi Rondeck. Upon first seeing her, he told a friend, "I'm going to marry her," and he did, two years later in Limburg, Germany, on December 2, 1967. They remained happily married for 52 years.
A loyal employee, Robin worked for the Motion Picture Service / Army and Air Force Exchange Service for over 32 years, serving our men and women in the armed forces to improve the quality of their lives in wartime and in peace. He served around the world, from American bases in Vietnam to Wiesbaden, Germany, and eventually stateside, where he settled and retired in Arlington, TX.
He was blessed with a single child, his daughter Jennifer, who was his pride and joy.
When she married, Robin quickly became a favorite relative of her husband's extended family as well. Robin's two grandchildren quickly became attached to their “Opa,” always wanting to talk to, visit and generally spend time with him. In return, Opa was known to spoil them as only a grandpa can.
More than a wonderful husband and father, Robin was a great friend. Anyone lucky enough to come in contact with him quickly learned he was a man of his word and was genuinely thoughtful, generous and humble. He had a sincere interest in the life and well-being of everyone he met, and had a kind word for everyone. He was also known to surprise you with his quick wit and dry humor.
Robin was very devoted to his faith and was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church community for over 35 years. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and his sister Carol. Robin is survived by his wife Heidi Green, His daughter Jennifer and her husband Brett Moneta, and his grandchildren, Connor and Abby.
Memorial Services will be postponed until a later date.
