Robert Wesley Molen, 91, beloved husband, father and grandfather, returned to be with our Heavenly Father and to be reunited with his wife of 64 years on Thursday, March 16, 2017. He was surrounded by his family.
Service: 11 am Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3809 Curt Drive, Arlington, TX
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wade Funeral Home and 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Robert "Bob" was born February 13, 1926 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Lawrence and Irene Molen, the third of five children. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific in World War II. His ship was one of the first to enter Tokyo harbor after the signing of the Armistice. After his service he returned to Idaho and met and married Lucille Ward on December 12, 1947 in the LDS Temple in Idaho Falls. While raising a young family, Bob attended Utah State University and graduated in Business Administration. Bob has been a resident of Arlington since 1967 and retired from Tandycrafts as Credit Manager in 1991. As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many administrative positions and played an important part in the church's growth in North Texas. He served many years as a volunteer temple worker in the Dallas Texas LDS Temple. His early retirement was filled with his love of sailing, golfing and traveling with his sweetheart. He and Lucille were avid Dallas sports fans. He would later become the "pool shark" at Fox Run retirement community. Bob was devoted to his family and found special joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three siblings and a grandson.
Survivors: Children, Ward W. Molen and wife, Crystal, Ann Peterson and husband, Michael, and Kelly R. Molen and wife, Laura; eight grandchildren and spouses; and 19 great-grandchildren; and sibling, Steve Molen and wife Vada.
