ARLINGTON -- Robert Wayne Johnson, 63, entered into eternal life Saturday, April 21, 2012, in Arlington.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 301 W. Sanford St., Arlington, the Rev. James P. Thompson Jr. and the Rev. Willie D. Adams officiating. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Robert was the second baby born in the new year January 1, 1949 at Pinkston Clinic in Dallas. Born to the parents of Dan Johnson Sr., and Francis Gamble Johnson both parents preceded him in death.
Robert found God at a young age at Sunset Baptist Church where he grew in childhood and joined his wife at Mount Olive Baptist Church where he continued his walk with Christ in faith.
Robert attended public school in Tarrant County, he started elementary school at Booker T. Washington, I.M. Terrell High School and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1968. During his elementary years Robert found his passion in sports, track and field events. Robert continued his education at Henderson County Junior College, East Texas State University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dallas Baptist University.
Robert served in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1975 where he received his AGE certification. He was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam war era. Robert worked 33 years for Triumph formerly known as LTV Corporation, in both salary and hourly positions.
Robert met his love in elementary school, Robert and Dolores knew that they would spend the rest of their life together. Married on December 21, 1970, Robert and Dolores have three children.
Survivors: Robert leaves to mourn, his wife, Dolores Johnson; children, Kevin Johnson, Nicole Johnson and Brandon Johnson, M.D.; sisters, Kay Little and Sondra Banks; mother in law, Dorothy Hurndon; sister in laws, Claudia Cregler, Ruth Mitchell and husband, John, Sherilyn Battee, Tressia Washington and husband, Will, Charlotte Allen, Renee Haynes and husband, David; two grandchildren, Robert Corbin Ellis, Chloe Jean Everett; a huge host of nephews, nieces and cousins; along with a multitude of family and friends.
