Robert “ Bob” Spoonts died at the age of 63 on March 21, 2021 in Arlington, TX.
Memorial Service is April 1, 2021 at Wade Funeral Home at 12:00 pm with burial to follow at the National Cemetery at 2 PM. Rev. Molly Hayes will officiate. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 6-8 PM at Wade Funeral Home.
Bob was born on September 18, 1957 to Bob and Gerry Spoonts in Dallas, TX. Bob joined the Navy after graduating from Irving High School in 1976. He was assigned to the USS Ranger Aircraft Carrier and served for 4 years before returning to Texas. Bob and his wife Debbie were married on August 31, 1985 and have been married for over 35 years. Following the Navy, Bob worked for the City of Irving as a Property Officer with the Irving Police Department for 14 years. In 2001, Bob began to work for American Airlines and held a variety of positions as well as five layoffs. Most recently, Bob worked as a Fleet Service Clerk. He took great pride in rarely missing work. Bob was a loyal and trustworthy friend and employee. He had an outstanding sense of humor, enjoyed being outdoors, photography, the Dallas Cowboys, his church involvement at Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist for over 20 years as well as being with friends and family. One of his greatest joys was spending time with Alexa, who was a close family friend's granddaughter. Bob always spent his time helping others. Bob was a victim to a severe case of COVID, from which he was unable to recover.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Spoonts; mother, Gerry Spoonts; his beloved grandparents Bill and Bonnie Belle Kline; his paternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Spoonts; his sister, Terry Spoonts; his aunts Barbara Crowley, Jerry Greer and husband, Mike; and several cousins on both sides of his family. Bob fit perfectly into Deb's family and is survived by his beloved mother-in-law, Rita Miller; sisters in-law, Carolyn Miller and husband Mike; Marilyn Miller and husband Pat; Betty Miller as well as several cousins
Bob's chosen sister is Tracey Williams, Alexa's grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist - Floater Fund.
