Emblem

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved Al “Papa Hog” Price, who peacefully departed this world on March 14, 2025, at the remarkable age of 93. A man who defied the odds time and time again, Pops was a true testament to resilience and strength.

Albert Lee Price was born on Dec. 12, 1931, in Tolar, Texas, to Nolan and Pearl Carter Price and grew up in Stephenville. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Technical Sergeant for 20 years and where he met the love of his life, Shirley Virginia, when he “stole” her hat in the mess hall. The two were married in May 1957 and had their only son, Richard Alan, a year later. The name Papa Hog came from his time with the Texas Rangers where he was a security guard in the 90’s and made many cherished friendships with players, umpires and staff over the years.

Beyond his impressive strength and determination, Pops will be remembered for his quick wit and endless sense of humor, always finding a way to bring laughter to those around him. His love for his family was unwavering and boundless — a guiding light for us all.

While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his incredible life and the countless memories he leaves behind. His legacy lives on through the stories, laughter and love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Albert was preceded in death by his soulmate, Shirley, and his brother, Travis Price. Pops is survived by his son, Richard “Hoggy” Price, and daughter-in-law, Kathy, of Dalworthington Gardens; grandchildren, Katie and Chris Berestecky and Kallie and Jack Jenkins, all of Mansfield; great-granddaughter, Charlotte, and great-grandsons, Jake, Brody and Oliver; brothers, Tony and Paula Price of Keller, and Terry and Alyce Price of Dallas; sister, Sandra and Mike Cain of Emory; sister-in-law Francis Fornof of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews; and his beloved caregivers, Febie, Glenda, Lafayette and many others.

Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, 76016, with Brother Frank Liedkie officiating.
