Robert (Bob) Castetter, 85, passed away on September 22, 2022 in Arlington, TX.
He was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 1, 1936. Bob grew up in the small town of Fishers, IN where he worked in his family’s grocery store until he graduated from Butler University. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. He and Carolyn Maddux were married on March 30, 1959 and began their life together at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY. His eyesight prevented him from becoming a pilot so he often said that “he flew a desk for 3 years.”
Bob and Carolyn had an interesting life living in 7 states and 2 foreign countries with their 4 children, John (Julie), Diana (Tom Schelle), David (Julie), and Rob (Wendi.) They have been blessed with 7 grandchildren, Emily, Laura, Brian, Kati, Robby, Rob and Claire. Rounding out the Castetter family are 15 great grandchildren (so far.)
Bob retired from Bell Helicopter as Manager of International Contracts in 2001. The life of a retiree afforded him more time for arm chair coaching of his beloved Butler Bulldogs, Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He is already greatly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Esther Castetter, his sister, Barbara Wheeler and his son, David.
His memorial service will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Arlington, TX on Wednesday, September 28th at 11:00am. Burial will be at DFW National Cemetery at a later date.
